Blog Tour with Author Devyn Quinn: Interview + Giveaway

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

(from her website)

Devyn Quinn lives in the scenic Southwest, though she has called several other states home. She is a huge fan of dark gothic music & shoot-’em-up action movies. But reading is her first love and Devyn spends too much time with history books, as well as feeding her addiction for celebrity biographies. She especially enjoys reading books on Hollywood before the 1960′s and is crazy about Marilyn Monroe, her legend and her myth.
Devyn lives with her cats, ferrets, and one little single Shih Tzu doggie, Tess.

Refusing to embrace her mermaid heritage, Gwen Lonike prefers to live as a human. All she wants is to run her hotel in Port Rock Maine, in peace. But when her sister Tessa returns from the Mediterranean with news that she had inadvertently opened the gateway to a lost mermaid kingdom–and accidentally freed its dangerous queen–Gwen can no longer hide behind her idyllic life.

Covert-ops agent Blake Whittaker is far from happy when he’s assigned to trail paranormal activity back to him hometown, where he can’t escape crushing memories he’d rather forget. But when he meets and falls for Gwen, he knows he can’t cut and run. Yet how long can he hide his true mission from her? And how long can Gwen and her sisters remain safe from a nemesis bent on their destruction–and from Blake’s own superiors, whose ultimate mission could prove the greatest threat of all?

ABOUT YOU

JJBC~How did you get into writing?
SS~I got into writing when I was a kid and needed an escape from “real” life. Creating worlds and making characters became so fascinating, I kept up with it until I finally became a published author.

JJBC~Is writing your full time job?
SS~I do try to write full time. A few years ago I was laid off from the real estate industry and decided to give “serious” writing a go. I’m now getting ready to start my fourth year in the publishing industry and can’t wait to see what happens.

JJBC~What’s a typical writing day for you like?
SS~Usually in the morning I take care of busy work (usually promo stuff) then start writing in the afternoons or evenings. A couple days a week are set aside for errands or anything else not writing related. I generally try not to write on the weekends but sometimes it doesn’t work out that way.

JJBC~Do you set a daily writing goal?

Day #2 Birthday Bash with Author Stephanie Julian

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Hi My wonderful followers! Today is Day #2 in JoJo's 30 Day Birthday Bash, and i have brought with me  the wonderful Author of  KISS OF MOONLIGHT , MOONLIGHT MENAGE , and EDGE OF MOONLIGHT

Stephanie Julian

~How do you think romance has changed in the last 30 years?

I first started reading romance when I was in grade school. Literally. I discovered Harlequin Presents and oh, baby, I was hooked. From there I moved on to historical romance, Kathleen Woodiwiss, in particular. The women were barely women, the men were little more than cavemen but there was something about two people falling in love that drew me in. Over the years, romance has become a story of equals. Before, the men were always the dominant factor in the relationship, sweeping the woman off her feet. Today, the women can sweep back and I love that.

~What type of romance do you prefer to read?
Paranormal romance. I love world-building and magic and werewolves and vampires and those are the kinds of stories I like to read. And if they have hot, hot sex, all the better.

~What are your favorite types of Heroes &/or heroines?
I love wounded heroes. There's just something about a guy in pain who's healed by the love of a good woman. Or vice versa. I also love those old Presents stories where the arrogant male gets cut off at the knees and has to grovel for his woman. What? I LOVE those. Julie Porter always did those so well.

~Fav color
Depends on the day. Today, it's red, the color of the walls of my office. It's very creative.

~Fav Scent?
Okay, I love the smell of lilacs blooming in the garden, but when I catch a whiff of bus fumes (yeah, yeah, just stick with me a minute), I'm transported back to the three tours I took to Italy in high school. Amazing trips and I loved Italy.

~Fav Flavor?
Chocolate and mint. And rum and mint. And orange and peach.
~Fav movies
Big, huge, blow 'em up, super hero, fantasy love stories. Yes, Avatar would apply, but so does The Lord of the Rings trilogy. And Armageddon does as well. Don't judge me.

~Can you tell us about your favorite / strangest fan experience?
Just happened at RT. A woman ran up to my table, told me how much she loved my books and took off before I even really had a chance to get her name or say thank you more than a few times.

~What are some of your favorite Hero / Heroine names?
Gabriel for a male. I'm hoping you all get to meet my Gabriel someday. I love him.

~What do you like to Read? Your Favorite Genre?
Paranormal romance, the hotter the better. I'm a huge fan of JR Ward and Lora Leigh. But I also love Samantha Kane's Brother's In Arms series, which is historical and m/m/f, and Shana Abe's Drakon series, also historical.

~What are you reading at the moment?
I just started Jim Butcher's Small Favor. I love Harry. Love him, love him, love him.

~Is there a Genre you have always wanted to write in but for reasons you have not been able to?
Nope, I love writing paranormal erotic romance. There's too much "stuff" that goes along with writing historicals that I just never wanted to write them.

~Do you have a new release, or a new release coming out soon? Can you tell us about it?
My latest release, EDGE OF MOONLIGHT, was released in May and features John Simmons and wolf shifter Kaine Giliati.

Etruscan wolf shifter Kaine Giliati has longed for John Simmons since he willingly agreed to wipe all memory of her from his mind. The pain in her heart is only magnified by terror-the ability to call her wolf appears to have deserted her, as well.

For months after he and his sister escaped a crazed kidnapper, John has been dreaming about a beautiful woman he's never met but who seems so familiar. A woman he's shocked to find in a dark bar one night. A woman who agrees to come back to his apartment for raw, passionate sex.

One erotic, stolen night reopens old wounds, uncovers buried memories and sets Kaine and John on a path filled with danger, magic and potential heartbreak.

~What are 3 things that are must haves for you when you sit down to write?
I can only think of two: My glasses and my Junior Mints. Well, my computer but that's a given.

~Do you have a website or blog that your readers can keep up with you and your books?
I have both:
www.stephaniejulian.com
and
www.onamoonlitnight.blogspot.com

~How do you come up with character names?
I actually can't begin to write unless I have the right name for the character and if I try to write with the wrong name, the character doesn't sound true. My Etruscans almost always have variations on ancient Etruscan or Roman names. My eteri, those who have no magical blood, I try to pick names that you'd recognize, like they could live across the street from you. I always figure out background first, what their parents were like, where they come from and then I search for the name that would fit what their parents would think would be a good name.

~How did you come up with the idea for this series? From a dream, from watching tv, while reading another book?
Before I started the Magical Seduction series, I knew I wanted to write a book about magic but I wanted to draw on my Italian heritage. There's a lot of Celtic lore out there, but not a lot on Italian folk magic. Then I discovered Raven Grimaldi, a contemporary magic user who has written a series of books based on old Italian folk magic, and I discovered the 1800s book Etruscan Roman Remains by Charles G. Leland, from which I drew a lot of the folklore. And then I let my imagination have free rein.

~Did you have to do any type of research before writing this book?
I love to do research. I love to haunt Amazon for books like ETRUSCAN CIVILIZATION: A CULTURAL HISTORY, ETRUSCAN ITALY, DAILY LIFE OF THE ETRUSCANS, ETRUSCAN LIFE AND AFTERLIFE. If the book has 1000 pages and at least a hundred of them are footnotes and endnotes, I'm so there.

Quickies
Pizza or burger?
Burger.

Dress or jeans?
Jeans, short or long.

Highlander or vampire?
Vampire. Make him a Highlander vampire... ooh.

Fire or water?
I'd rather be hot than cold, so I'll take the fire.

Up or down?
Feet on the ground, please.

Black & white or color?
Color, unless it's "Casablanca." Don't mess with perfection.

Half full or half empty?
Oh, I'm a half empty girl, as my critique partner likes to tell me, but I do think it keeps me grounded.

Day or night?
Day. Sunny, bright, warm.

Star Trek or Star Wars?
I'm a long-time Trekker.

Sword or gun?
Sword with a big strong man attached to it.

Eyes or mouth?
Ooh, hard one. Hmm, have to think about that...

Strawberry or cherry?
Cherry limeades from Sonic. Yum!

Paperback or hardback?
Paperback. Easier to hold.

Coke or pepsi?
Coke.

Winter or summer?
Summer. Bring on the heat.

Dog or cat?
Dogs are half-wits. Cats are way smarter.

Movie theatre or movies at home?
Movie theatres. The bigger the screen, the better.

Day #1 Birthday Bash with The Magickal SexWitch

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

*Waves* Hi everyone. Welcome to Day 1 of JoJo's 30 Day Birthday Bash. Today we have someone special to kick off the celebration. Say hello to the wonderful...but naughty Sex Witch, Laura Stamps.

**Warning....what you are about to read may corrupt you. If you easily embarrass, or easily blush you may want to back away now. If you are as twisted as the rest of us....well then....welcome home!

Naughty Meme with Paranormal Erotica Novelist Laura Stamps

Yes, this is her awesome offical Author pic!

1) Are you currently in a serious relationship?
Yes, I'm married to an Alpha (Wes). He’s five years older than I am, so I try very hard NOT to kill him with too much sex. Kinda. Maybe. Oh, well...

2) What was your dream growing up?
To run my own business, which I have always done, first as a painter and now as a novelist and the owner of Kittyfeather Press.

3) What talent do you wish you had?
None, but Wes wishes I had a better sense of direction. I only had to visit him twice when he was in the hospital for his heart thing a few years ago (no, that heart episode was NOT my fault!...why does everyone look immediately at me every time he talks about it? *lol). Anyway the hospital is about 10 minutes from my house. I got lost both times. What can I say? The good thing about people like me is we're used to being lost, so we never stress over it. Wes does all my stressing for me. Needless to say, I'm not allowed to drive out of town because he knows he’ll never see me again. Or he’ll never survive the stress attack it would give him. Probably both. *wicked grin*

4) If I bought you a drink what would it be?
Water. I quit drinking alcoholic beverages 29 years ago. Not that it’s helped my terrible sense of direction, but….

5) Favorite vegetable?
That’s easy. Black olives. Hey, that’s a vegetable, right? Or is it a fruit? Hmm. Tricky little things, aren’t they?

6) What was the last book you read?
I read erotica and nonfiction sex books. At the moment I'm reading Supersex by Trace Cox. Damn, this is a good book! In fact I noticed last night it's starting to come apart at the spine. Hey, not my fault the awesome sex pics in it make me horny, ya know?

7) What zodiac sign are you?
Aries

8) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where.
No tats (I’m not into chemicals on my skin...yuck!). But my ears are pierced. Speaking of that, I just found out one of my fans is dating a yummy motorcycle guy with long hair. And his dick is pierced. Wow. I’ve had a hard time concentrating on much of anything else since I heard that. * lusty grin*

9) Worst Habit?
Wanting to jump Wes's bones 24/7. He thinks that’s my worst habit. Of course, I disagree.

10) Do you have a Pessimistic or Optimistic attitude?
Total optimist. And why not? I obsess every day about how much I love sex. Yup, my life is one big happy meal. ;)

11) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
What an insane question to ask!!! You know I’m an exhibitionist and have a bad habit of jumping Wes in elevators. Since I’m married, if I were stuck in an elevator with a yummy guy I would probably ogle his body and end up fixating on his crotch. Well, you asked!

12) Tell me one weird fact about you.
I have never taken a writing course in my life. That’s right. I majored in studio art in college and became a professional artist (painter). Then when I turned thirty I changed my career and became a writer. So I’m self-taught. Yet I have published over 45 books in the last 23 years with numerous publishers, won lots of prestigious writing awards, including a "Pulitzer Prize" nomination and seven "Pushcart Award" nominations. No kidding. Hey, I can be serious. Sometimes.

13) Do you have any pets?
Yes, nine cats. I have been in feral cat rescue for 30+ years

14) Do you think clowns are cute or scary?
I think they’re boring.

15) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?
Nothing. I like the way I look at 53, and I always feel like I’m 18, so being delusional definitely has its advantages. I’m very healthy, love to work out, jog 5-6 miles every week, eat organic vegetarian, have lots of energy, and my body is a roaring sex machine. What’s not to like?

16) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?
You have to ask?!!

17) What color eyes do you have?
Hazel
18) Ever been arrested?
Nah. Although cops and big black trucks have really been turning me on lately for some bizarre reason. But digress…

19) Bottle or can soda?
Yuck….chemicals!
20) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it?
10% of my monthly income goes to cat rescue charities every month, so that’s where 10% of it would go.

21) Favorite band to listen to when you’re mad?
I rarely get mad, and if I do it’s always Wes's fault (yes, he'll agree with that), so my fav music is heavy metal rock with a great dance beat. Music that makes me wanna fuck. That would be Journey with Steve Perry (Girl Can't Help It), Def Leppard (Pour a Little Sugar on Me, Rock of Ages), Aerosmith (Walk with Me, Back in the Saddle, etc.), Foreigner (Hot Blooded, Urgent). You get the picture. *sex-obsessed grin*

22) What’s your favorite place to hang out at?
The lingerie department at Dillard’s. I’m sooooooo addicted to their sexy lingerie. If it’s black or leopard-print, I WANT it! *wicked grin*

23) Do you believe in ghosts?
I’m a psychic. I’ve talked with spirits all my life. In fact there are four in my office right now. Seriously. Hi, guys!

24) Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
You have to ASK?!

25) Do you swear a lot?
All the time. Fuck is my fav verb (fuck, fucking, to be fucked). Cock, dick, cunt, pussy are some of my fav nouns. I'm crazy about damn and damnation. I have an incredibly trashy mouth. But as my neighbor says (who also has a trashy mouth) it makes talking more fun. True.

26) Biggest pet peeve?
Having to chase Wes for sex every day. I would love to be chased for a change. Of course, I wouldn’t run if that happened, so technically I can’t be chased. I guess. Oh, well…

27) In one word, how would you describe yourself?
OVERSEXED and HAWT!!!! Wait, that's two words. Sorry.

28) Do you believe/appreciate romance?
Absolutely. I am very romantic (when I’m not being a shameless flirt and tease). What a fun life I have, ya know?!

29) Do you believe in God?
And Gods. And Goddesses. I’m a Wiccan Faery Witch (just a fancy name for a SexWitch). Enough said. *grin*

30) What is your fav body part on a man?
Thanks for asking. I’m crazy about their dangly parts and love to worship at the "Altar of the Cock." Hard or soft (sigh), I just LOVE them...yummmmmm!

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Good evening all. I would like to welcome Jackie M. Smith  Author of Forever Yours.

M.J. Smith worked in customer service for many years before matching her personal interest in human nature with her passion for writing. She resides in Quebec, Canada and is currently working on her second and third novels.

JJBC~Do you read any reviews on your books?
JMS~Reviews are included in the media kit.

JJBC~Do you read your own books after they make it to final print?
JMS~Sometimes. I've read so much my own books during editing that I just put it aside and wait a while.

JJBC~What do you like to Read? Your Favorite Genre?
JMS~I love to read historical romances. Medievals are my favorites.

JJBC~Do you have a favorite book /series?
JMS~I never tire of Danielle Steele's Jewels.

JJBC~ How did you get into writing?
JMS~I started writing shorties stories and poems when I was in high school. Over the last ten years I continued writing on and off. And 4 years ago, I started writing pretty much full time.

JJBC~Did you always want to be a writer?
JMS~No. I wanted to be a fashion stylist. But that never worked out. So after some time I wondered what I wanted to do and what I was good at.

JJBC~How old were you when you began to write?
JMS~I was fourteen when I began writing.

JJBC~Is writing your full time job?
JMS~For now. It's a challenge. Thank goodness I have a very loving and understanding partner. He's a wonderful man.

JJBC~What’s a typical writing day for you like?
JMS~Right now, I get up early in the morning, turn on my computer and check my emails, facebook and twitter. Then, I post something about my book or giveaway. Then, I work on editing or writing.

JJBC~Do you set a daily writing goal?
JMS~I do set a daily writing goal. I try writing a few pages a day.

JJBC~When and where do you like to write?
JMS~I like writing in the evening after supper. I get comfortable on my sofa and start writing.

JJBC~Are there any processes you use when writing? Do you keep journals, sticky notes, chicken scratch on the back of receipts?
JMS~I do keep notepads around. At the beginning, I used to get scrap paper and write any ideas that popped into my head. Now, I discipline myself. Much better to find something.

JJBC~Do you prefer to write on a computer, typewriter, or paper and pen?
JMS~I write with paper and pencil first. Then I type everything.

JJBC~How long did you write before you became a published author?
JMS~It took me two years before becoming a published author. At first, I wrote for fun. Then, I said to myself why not get my story published. It takes a lot of courage and determination. In the end its all worth it.

JJBC~Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
JMS~Keep going. Don't give up if writing is something you love.

JJBC~~Is there anything else you would like to share with your followers today?
JMS~Don't miss my upcoming historical romance set in WWI called A Soldier's Vow. (Trailer and blurb below)

Forever Yours
Europe is torn apart by World War II and a feisty and beautiful heroine, Liz, answers the call to battle as a pilot in the Royal Air Force. Philip, her childhood friend and superior in the air force, is in a position of authority to stop her, but Liz is determined. Before she leaves on a dangerous reconnaissance mission, the two share a passionate night and Philip proposes, giving her his grandmother’s ring.

Liz’s plane goes down during her mission in enemy territory while Philip is sent to train with an elite team of paratroopers. The two discover other loves during their time apart, each thinking the other is lost forever.

Will these two star-crossed lovers find each other or will a war that has destroyed so much destroy the greatest love each has ever known?

Forever Yours Book trailer
Uploaded by JackieMSmith. - Arts and animation videos.

JJBC~Can you tell you tell us a little bit about the book?
JMS~Forever Yours is a love story set in World War II England. Two childhood friends are reunited in a war and find love despite it.

JJBC~How did you come up with the idea for this book/series? From a dream, from watching tv, while reading another book?
JMS~The idea came for my book came to me like a flash. I was watching a WWII movie. I think it was Band of Brothers. But my book has nothing to do with American soldiers. My story talks about a female pilot who joins a Royal Air Force's woman squadron.

JJBC~~Did you have to do any type of research before writing this book?
JMS~I did have to research women pilots during WWII and make sure my idea wasn't too far fetched. But after all I found on the internet and documentaries, my idea was pretty accurate. I just pushed it a bit to make it exciting.

JJBC~Who’s your favorite character and why?
JMS~The heroine, Liz, for sure. She's feisty and determined.

JJBC~Did the overall book turn out like your original idea of the story?
JMS~My original idea is pretty much what the whole story is about. Only some details were changed.

JJBC~ Is this going to be a series?
JMS~Forever Yours will be part of a war series. But they will be at different times.

Interview with Stephanie Julian

Monday, February 22, 2010

Stephanie Julian
" Kiss of Moonlight "

JJBC~Do you read any reviews on your books?
SJ~ I read all the reviews of my books. Sometimes the less-than-complimentary ones can be hard to read but I’ve only gotten a few of those so far. The good ones are gratifying. I first breathe a sigh of relief then I start to smile. Always in that order.

JJBC~Do you read your own books after they make it to final print?
SJ~Sometimes I have to.  My Magical Seduction and Lucani Lovers series are all set in the same world (contemporary but they share a mythology) so sometimes I have to reread certain books just to remind myself of what I’d set up for the future. And sometimes I fall in love with my guys all over again and can’t stop reading.

JJBC~Do you have a favorite book /series?
SJ~JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood and Lora Leigh’s Breed Series. Nalini Singh’s Psy/Shifter books and Virginia Kantra’s Children of the Sea. Louisa Burton’s Hidden Grotto and Eileen Wilks Lupi. Shana Abe’s Drakons, Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series (the first six books, after that they were hit or miss for me), Cherry Adair’s T-FLAC (though I haven’t read the paranormals, go figure), Tara Janzen’s Crazy series (Superman is still my man), Karen Marie Moning’s Highlanders, JD Robb’s In Death series, Judi Fennell’s Mer series, Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files (God, I love Harry), Suz Brockmann’s Troubleshooters and Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters and Lords of Avalon series.
Can you tell I like series? There’s not enough room to list the Harlequin/Silhouette series I’ve loved over the years, although I will pimp Maggie Shayne’s Wings in the Night series.

JJBC~ I luv the Black Dagger Brothers, and KM's Highlanders! *sigh* i can never get enough Highlanders!!

JJBC~Did you always want to be a writer?
SJ~Yes, from the time I could read, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

JJBC~How old were you when you began to write?
SJ~Early teens. I wanted to be Stephen King or Robyn Donald, one of the first Harlequin writers whose name I remember looking for on the shelves. I would write during study halls and lunch when I wasn’t reading Kathleen Woodiwiss or Bertrice Small behind my biology book.

JJBC~Is writing your full time job?
SJ~Yes, actually it’s always been. When I left college with an English degree, I started to write for a daily newspaper and I still do on a freelance basis. When I had my first son, I left to freelance.

JJBC~What’s a typical writing day for you like?
SJ~I roll out of bed at 7 a.m., wave bye-bye to my guys, clean out my email and by 8 a.m., I’m sitting in front of the computer writing (or doing interviews J)  or updating my website. I write until 10:30 if it’s a run day (every other day is a run day). If not, I write till 11:30 or 12 then take an hour for lunch, which  always includes a few games of solitaire before I get back to work and write until my sons get home from school. Sometimes I actually get another two hours in after that, if the music isn’t thumping too loudly.

JJBC~Do you set a daily writing goal?
SJ~Yes. I try for at least 2000 words a day, though I’m working on increasing that number.

JJBC~When and where do you like to write?
SJ~All day long in my office. I’ve got my bulletin board for inspiration, the walls are a bright red and I’ve always got Junior Mints on my desk.

JJBC~Are there any processes you use when writing? Do you keep journals, sticky notes, chicken scratch on the back of receipts?
SJ~I don’t have a journal but I do have files on my computer with folders for each of the books I’m working on. And I always have note cards with me so I can write thoughts.

JJBC~Do you prefer to write on a computer, typewriter, or paper and pen?
SJ~Computer, although I take research notes by hand then input them into the computer. That gives me time to process the info and roll it over in my head a few times to see how I’m going to use that piece of info in my story.

JJBC~What is the hardest / easiest part of writing for you?
SJ~Starting is the easiest. I almost always have an opening scene in my head. The hardest? Knowing when it’s time to wrap up the story. I mean, I know what the ending is, it’s just getting myself to say, okay, that’s enough.

JJBC~What’s the best thing about being an author?
SJ~Getting to play with my imaginary friends all day.

JJBC~How long did you write before you became a published author?
SJ~I started writing for publication right after my second son was born. I remember sitting at my computer at night with him in his carrier, rocking him with my foot as I wrote. That was 1995 and I sold my first book in 2002.

JJBC~Who’s your favorite hero/heroine?
SJ~My own? Ooh, tough choice between Cam from SEDUCED & ENSNARED and Kyle from KISS OF MOONLIGHT. They’re both Alphas and I love them for that. I typically have physical models for my characters, just because I do, but Cam and Kyle don’t. I just have this image in my head and that’s who they are.
Not my own? Butch and Vishous. Hands down.

JJBC~I do Love Vishous, but Rehevenge is my Fav!!

JJBC~What are you reading at the moment?
SJ~Lauren Dane’s COMING UNDONE. Next up, Lora Leigh’s MÉNAGE A MAGIC.

JJBC~What made you want to be a romance writer?
SJ~Because I love romance. I love happily ever after. There really was never a choice for me.

JJBC~What fed your interest in writing about Werewolves?
SJ~I always go back to “The Wolf Man” with Lon Chaney Jr. I saw that when I was five years old and I remember being fascinated by this guy who became a monster, only he wasn’t a monster. He was a victim of circumstance. Then of course, there’s “An American Werewolf in London,” “The Howling” and “The Company of Wolves.” I loved Kelley Armstrong’s BITTEN and I was always Team Richard from the Anita Blake series.

JJBC~Is there a question you have always wanted to be asked in an interview? If so how would you answer it?
SJ~Can’t think of one. Honestly.

JJBC~Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
SJ~You have to make writing a priority, even if you can only manage to fit in 15 minutes a day. Put it on your calendar. Don’t say you’re going to and never get around to it. It has to be a priority.

JJBC~Is there anything else you would like to share with your followers today?
SJ~Thanks for enjoying my stories and I hope I can continue to write stories that touch the readers.

JJBC~Can you tell us a little bit about Kiss of Moonlight?

Kiss of Moonlight
Plagued by nightmares. Stalked by kidnappers. Tamra McMillan needs a safe haven. When tattooed bad-ass Kyle Rossini steps into her life, the last thing she expects to find is a sanctuary from her demons or steaming hot sex. Everything about him screams danger. But appearances can be deceiving. The tender possessiveness of his touch, the hunger in his eyes, the scorching sensuality of his kiss—all of it sears him into her soul and brands her as his for life.
But otherworldly forces are afoot and death hovers…
Etruscan werewolf Kyle is a loner. The king’s assassin with a killer’s instincts. The last thing he needs is a mate who could be placed in danger because of him. Until he meets the one woman who needs him more than he needs his solitude. When Tamra, battered but not broken, stumbles into his world and tumbles into his bed, she captures his heart. And nothing—not kidnappers or visions of his possible death—will keep him from her.

JJBC~How did you come up with the idea for this series? From a dream, from watching tv, while reading another book?
SJ~KISS OF MOONLIGHT came about because I wanted to write werewolves. I love them, always have. And when I started to think about werewolves, the idea of the lone wolf was first and foremost. When I started to write the book, Kyle was as clear as day in my head from the very beginning. I heard his voice, saw his voice and knew everything about the man.

JJBC~Did you have to do any type of research before writing this Kiss of Moonlight?
SJ~I’m a research hound. I love research. I’m always looking for more research books to read and new websites to explore. I read a lot about the Roman legion for this particular book. And I read several non-fiction werewolf books, just to see what the traditions have been through the years.

JJBC~Who’s your favorite character and why?
SJ~Well, Kyle, of course, because he’s just so damn gorgeous and loving and strong and… because he’s Kyle. He knows what he wants, he goes after it and he won’t let anything hurt those he loves.
Then there’s Cat. You’ll be seeing more of Cat.

JJBC~Are any of your characters created from people in your life?
SJ~Most of my heroes don’t talk very much. That trait comes directly from my husband. There are bits and pieces of people I know in my stories but not complete characters.

JJBC~Did the overall book turn out like your original idea of the story?
SJ~I can honestly say yes.

JJBC~Can you tell us a little bit about the characters?
SJ~Kyle is tall, dark and handsome, lethal, loving and steady as a rock. He’s the guy you want at your back and in your bed.
Tamra is damaged but she’s a fighter. She’s stronger than she thinks she is and she knows what she wants.

JJBC~Can you tell us a little bit about when and where the story takes place?
SJ~The story is contemporary and takes place in Reading, Pennsylvania, which happens to be my hometown. Write what you know.

JJBC~Do you have any idea how many book are going to be in this series?
SJ~Nope, no idea. I’m just going to keep writing.

JJBC~YAY!!! thats what i wanna hear!!! ;0)~

JJBC~Do you have a favorite scene?
SJ~ Damn, I have to think about that one. The first one that springs to mind is Tam and Kyle’s first meeting, when he’s in his pelt and realizes that this is someone special to him and he just sits my her side.

JJBC~Was there any part of this book that was harder for you to write than the others?
SJ~Anything to do with Tam’s attack before the book starts.

JJBC~Can you give us a hint of what to expect in the next book?
SJ~Moonlight Ménage will be released March 3 from Ellora’s Cave. If you read Kiss of Moonlight, you already met Tira, Nic and Duke.

Moonlight Ménage
Coming 3-3-2010
For eight years, Etruscan witch Tira Belludi has longed to give herself, body and soul, to the two shifter men who hold her heart. But visions of death and fears for her sanity have forced her to keep her distance.
Nic Rocca and Duke Ducati are brothers in everything but blood and partners who have each other’s backs. They share a home, a job and had planned to share their life with Tira between them…until the night she saw their future and built a fortress around her heart.
Now danger and death stalk Nic and Duke. And Tira must make a choice—grab love while she has the chance or watch Nic die from afar and lose Duke forever.

My Bonus Question:
JJBC~If you could be trapped in any series/book which would it be and why?
SJ~I’ve always wanted to be Beauty from Beauty and the Beast. But I’d never leave the Beast

Eden Bradley

JJBC~Do you read any reviews on your books?
EB~ I always read my reviews. They’ve been mostly good, fortunately, but the bad ones are always painful. Still, I can’t look away!

JJBC~Do you read your own books after they make it to final print?
EB~No, never. By that time I’ve read it and edited it over and over, and once I get past the ARC stage (where we proof the final copy after it’s been typeset for last minute errors) I’m done and on to the next book. And my writing schedule has been so heavey the last few years, I’m lucky if I get to read anything!

JJBC~What do you like to Read? Your Favorite Genre?
EB~I love romantic comedy, chick lit and lately I’ve been reading a lot of YA. My book are pretty dark, so I think I need a break from my own drama-lol! But sometimes I do pick up an erotic novel from one of my favorite authors, or some women’s fiction. But if I’m going for the women’s ficiton, I want the dark, heavy stuff.

JJBC~Do you have a favorite book /series?
EB~That would be like asking me to pick my favorite pair of shoes! I have a number of books on my keeper shelf, but one of my all-time favorites is Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee. I’m an old sci-fi fan and this book is my favorite kind of hard-core futuristic society with some tragic romance. Plus, Tanith Lee’s descriptive prose is like no one else’s-gorgeous!

JJBC~ How did you get into writing?
EB~I always feel sort of terrible admitting this, but in 2001 I read this really awful romance novel, and I thought, if this person could get published, I certainly must be able to! I’d been writing since I was a child, but it hadn’t occurred to me until right then that I should try to publish. My first book, an e-book, was contracted in 2004, quickly followed by another, and then I had my first book deal with Bantam/Dell in 2005.

JJBC~Did you always want to be a writer?
EB~ Always-among other things. Well, almost always. At around age five I wanted to be a nurse and a ballerina.

JJBC~How old were you when you began to write?
EB~ In the summer between third and fourth grades, I volunteered for summer school so I could take a class on creative writing. But my first real novel happened when I was twenty-five (a long time ago!)-a really terrible romance novel. Right after that I wrote an epic vampire novel that’s never seen the light of day, but I’m always threatening to rewrite it when I have time. It could still happen…

JJBC~Is writing your full time job?
EB~It was for several years, but due to the crash in the economy-and the publishing industry-I’ve had to go back to work. I got certified to teach Pilates at the beginning of this year. I do it three days a week, and I love it!

JJBC~What’s a typical writing day for you like?
EB~ Right now it’s fairly insane. On days I don’t work the day job, I get up and have a cup of tea while going through email. Since I’m not a morning person this may take a while. I really start to work between 11:00 and noon, when I edit whatever I’ve written the day before, then I start to write new pages. I often work until around ten at night. Currently, due to having over-committed to three different publishers, I have to average a minimum of 14,000 words a week (about 56 pages), although I did 73 pages last week-trying to get ahead because I’ll be out of town for a few days over the holidays, plus I’m expecting revisions on my first novel for Harlequin Spice any day now, which will take me away from my work-in-progress for at least a week. On days I teach Pilates, I still usually write in the evening, anywhere from 5-10 pages.

JJBC~Do you set a daily writing goal?
EB~I try for a daily goal of 2,000 words minimum, but my real goals are weekly.

JJBC~When and where do you like to write?
EB~I’m a bit of a prima donna about my writing. I really need to be at home at my desk, with either total silence or a play list of music picked for that particular story and my mood that day. I can’t work on my laptop, or at a café, as many authors do. I’m too easily distracted.

JJBC~Are there any processes you use when writing? Do you keep journals, sticky notes, chicken scratch on the back of receipts?
EB~My office is covered in sticky notes! I also have random notes and bits of dialogue on pads of paper that I keep all over: by my bed, in my car, in my bathroom (I always have great ideas when I’m in the shower). Other than that, I just sit down and write. My deadlines don’t allow me to wait for a muse-I just sit at the keyboard and make myself do it. Sometimes there is crying and chocolate involved. Sad, but true…*G*

JJBC~Do you prefer to write on a computer, typewriter, or paper and pen?
EB~Definitely on the computer. My handwriting is atrocious. It’s often difficult for me to make out my scribbled notes.

JJBC~What is the hardest / easiest part of writing for you?
EB~The hardest part is just creating on demand nearly seven days a week since 2005. I get burned out. The easiest? There are days when I’m just on a roll and the words come pouring out of me so fast I can barely keep up-pure joy!

JJBC~What’s the best thing about being an author?
EB~The personal validation. The money is lovely, although it’s very hard to make enough to actually live on. But when an editor buys your book, it’s validation that you do something well enough for them to take a chance on you. And the fact that it’s something I love and would do anyway…that’s pretty amazing.

JJBC~How long did you write before you became a published author?
EB~Most of my life, but with the intent to publish, about 3 ½ years.

JJBC~Who’s your favorite hero/heroine?
EB~From my own books? I really love Valentine in my book A 21ST CENTURY COURTESAN. She’s so complex, and aside from being a call girl, there’s a lot of me in her-lol! I also love Nissa and Meeraj, the heroines I’ve been writing for my new erotic vampire/urban fantasy books from Samhain, THE SEEKING KISS and BLOODSONG, books One and Two in the Midnight Playground Series (there will be four in total). They’re tough and street-smart and fearless. I suppose you have to be to seek out a vampire for a bed partner!

JJBC~What are you reading at the moment?
EB~A great YA book by Sarah Dessen called Just Listen.

JJBC~Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
EB~Just write. Don’t wait for the muse. Practice your craft even if you don’t feel like it. And never stop learning-none of us ever knows it all.

JJBC~Is there anything else you would like to share with your followers today?
EB~Thanks so much for having me! Readers can find me on my website: http://www.edenbradley.com/ or on my group blog, which I share with fellow authors R.G. Alexander, Lilli Feisty and Crystal Jordan: http://www.smutketeers.com/

Winter Solstice
Celestial Seductions, Book 1

Love with a beautiful stranger isn’t so strange—if you believe in destiny.

Clinical psychologist Destiny Walker considers herself far too logical for any of that “soul mate” nonsense. Even if her beloved, dearly departed Nana insisted she was going to meet hers someday. When a sudden downpour sends her ducking into a psychic reader’s storefront—and the woman confirms everything her grandmother said—doubt begins to sneak into the corners of her mind.

A chance meeting—more like a collision—with Superman look-alike Reece Kellan sets off a sexual chemistry reaction the likes of which she’s never felt. She isn’t prone to falling into bed with strangers, but he does things to her body that leave her breathless…and unsure where her pleasure ends and his begins.

And that’s the part that scares the hell out of her…

JJBC~How did you come up with the idea for this series? From a dream, from watching tv, while reading another book?
EB~I don’t know where most of my ideas come from-my mind just wanders…although a few of my stories have been inspired by real life events. But since I write erotica and erotic romance, I’m not saying which ones…*G*

JJBC~Did you have to do any type of research before writing this book?
EB~ Not for this one.

JJBC~Are any of your characters based on people in your life?
EB~ Definitely! My friends always make it into my books, usually as secondary characters. And two of my heroes are based on a guy with whom I had a bad breakup. I wrote about him for a number of months, resulting in two different stories. It helped me to get closure on that relationship.

JJBC~Can you tell us a little bit about the characters?
EB~Destiny Walker is a clinical psychologist. She’s a creature of logic, so when she meets the hero and some strange things start to happen, she doesn’t know what to believe, and runs scared. Luckily he’s charming enough that she can’t stay away.

Reece Kellan is a sexy Superman look-alike. Raised in Ireland and Scotland, he’s a bit of an old-fashioned gentleman, an easy-going guy, who believes in magic.

JJBC~Can you tell us a little bit about when and where the story takes place?
EB~It’s a contemporary piece that takes place in the Los Angeles area, where I live. The story starts in the North Hollywood arts district, which is a very cool part of town, with great cafes, shops and small theater.

JJBC~Do you have any idea how many book are going to be in this series?
EB~The Celestial Seductions Series will be four books, one for each solstice and equinox. SPRING EQUINOX will be out in March.
My Bonus Question:

JJBC~If you could be trapped in any series/book which would it be and why?
EB~ I tend to like either really angsty stuff or really funny stuff-I’m not sure I’d want to live in any of them. Does that make me a realist? That’s a funny idea for someone who lives mostly in my head, talking to voices that don’t really exist-lol!

On the 12th Day Of Blogmas We Have Bree Despain. *yay, woo hoo* Bree has stopped by to do a short interview, and is giving away a few signed book marks and stickers. So head on down and get some yummy info on Bree, and her new book which comes out tomorrow " The Dark Divine"

Bree Despain
The Short: Bree rediscovered her childhood love for creating stories when she took a semester off college to write and direct plays for at-risk, inner-city teens from Philadelphia and New York. She currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband, two young sons, and her beloved TiVo. The Dark Divine is Bree's debut novel.

The Long: As a kid, Bree would staple folded papers to make her own "novels." As a teen, she wrote stories in notebooks while her friends waited for the next page to be finished. Her teachers told her she should be a writer. But Bree thought only special people could be writers, so as the years past, she settled into the idea of becoming a lawyer or something else just as ordinary.

Bree rediscovered her childhood love for creating stories when she took a semester off college to write and direct plays for at-risk, inner city teens from Philadelphia and New York. With a renewed passion for story, and the young adult audience, she returned to Brigham Young University, filled her schedule with creative writing and literature classes, and started writing stories again. But regular life kicked in, and she soon found herself married with a new baby, working full-time, and with very little writing done.

That’s when the universe threw a pick-up truck in her path. The car accident left Bree with an understanding that life was too short to not do what you absolutely love. A few days later, her husband brought home a used laptop computer, placed it by her bedside, and said, “You’d better start writing.” Her life has never been the same since.

In a moment of karmic perfection, Bree received the offer to purchase The Dark Divine on the 6th anniversary of the car accident that put her back on the path to becoming an author.

JJBC~If you could be trapped in any series/book which would it be and why?
BD~Hands down, I’d want to be trapped in the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. I LOVE archeology, and the turn-of-the-century to WWI time period is my favorite era of history to read about. I’d love to be a lady who digs for ancient artifacts during the day, and then gets to wear big fancy dresses to balls and parties at night—and totally kick bad guy butt whenever it’s called for. I also wouldn’t mind getting to hang out with Ramses Emerson. *swoon*

JJBC~Is writing your full time job?
BD~I’m a full-time mom and a part-time writer, although when crunched by a deadline it feels like those roles get reversed sometimes. I love having a job where I get to work from home and be with my kids, but it’s also nice to have a babysitter who helps out for a few hours a week.

The Dark Divine

A prodigal son

A dangerous love
A deadly secret . . .

I stood back and watched his movements. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant. . . . I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. “Tell me . . . I mean . . . why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?”

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.

As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret . . . and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it—her soul.

JJBC~Did you have to do any type of research before writing The Dark Divine?
BD~Yes. And I also did a lot of research while writing of the book. I actually really enjoy research, and it’s a great thing to do on the days when I don’t feel like writing. I also love the fact that watching movies and reading books is considered “working.” I researched everything from what time the sunsets in Minnesota in December, to moon phases, to art exhibits at the MoMA. But mostly I researched the mythology behind the paranormal creatures in my book. I love coming across a little know tidbit of information, or historical account, that changes everything I thought I knew.

JJBC~Was there any part of this book that was harder for you to write than the others?
BD~Ha ha. Funny you should ask. There is actually a scene in my book that my family and friends refer to as “that %&#@ing scene” because of how many times I had to rewrite it. Most of my edits with my editor were relatively minor, but he made me rewrite this particular scene over and over again. “It’s just not good enough yet,” he kept saying, or “It’s good, but it needs to be fantastic.” At the time I hated rewriting that scene, but now I think it’s one of the best scenes in the book. Almost everyone who has read the book agrees. Sorry, I can’t tell you about the scene, though. It would be a HUGE spoiler. I’m just happy that my editor kept pushing me to make the scene the best it could be.
